It’s very difficult for your heart not to go out to these children especially this time of year as they are not able to spend Christmas with their families and the realisation that through no fault of their own their Christmas will be spent in a protected children’s safe house. Their true saving grace are those amazing professionals, the children’s Carers, who will also be sacrificing their Christmases to keep these children safe, warm and fed. I would like to thank everybody who has supported “Make a Smile” and helped these children’s Carers in the outstanding work they do. Due to your generosity and kindness, as from today all seven of the children’s homes, the Relleu special youngsters home and the baby unit are now all full to overflowing with food and Christmas goodies, all the children have Christmas pressies and a special delivery of super nice things to eat on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The children’s homes which have needed financial support have been given €250 each for special treat days over the holidays and one young man has had the biggest Christmas present of them all a €340 seven day cookery school trip (including two days skiing) awarded to him for working very hard this year and managing to turn his life around (now he even has dreams of becoming the next Jamie Oliver!!!)
Plus I’m happy to add that the €1,058.97 outstanding gas bill has now been paid in the Relleu children’s home, so the heating is now on!!! All this has happened because of the generosity of a caring and loving community.
I would also like to say a very big thank you to all the “Make a Smile” Warriors who work so very hard to make a difference to the lives of these children and challenged youngsters in care. A very Merry Christmas and thank you to everyone!
