The “Make a Smile” self sufficiency project, which gives work and self esteem to twenty for mentally challenged youngsters and provides a safe and happy environment for ten little ones in care has always been a total joy to be involved with. The farm has grown over the last two years with your awesome support and kindness and the financial backing of top businesses like Continental Wealth Management who support so many of our farm’s work projects plus so many major groups and other charities like those amazing guys at “Grant a Wish” and of course not forgetting the tireless efforts of our own “Make a Smile” Warriors and volunteers- a community working together has made this idea become a reality.
This week’s Thursday farm day we were able to share that reality with fifty four fantastic children from the Lady Elizabeth School who spent their day planting, weeding and seeding, visiting the animals and learning about growing vegetables and how the “Make a Smile” self sufficiency project works. The Lady Elizabeth children, who every month so generously donate part of their pocket money to help support the farm and other project the “Make a Smile” warriors are involved with, were interested to see how their pocket money was being spent.
All our farm team commented on what a total pleasure it was to spend the day with such well behaved and bright young minds. A big thank you to all the staff at the Lady Elizabeth for their continuing support and a very special thank you to all the children for showing so much interest in the important work of the self sufficiency project Relleu.
