In 2008, our shop The Bed Centre was asked to provide some single mattresses to a local care home for children. One look at the home which although a loving home, was overdue a renovation with its crumbling walls, leaky taps and general wear and tear it made for a cold and uncomfortable place for the children. The recession was biting at this time and a lot of local builders etc. were out of work. We appealed for help and a fantastic team came together to renovate the home. At once the mood in the home improved and for the first time some of the children asked if they could bring school friends home to visit.
Through the years Make A Smile has had a hand in improvements over the whole group by painting, fixing and providing new furniture all funded by the local community.
